Natural gas outage impacts thousands in Waverly and Montrose

A natural gas outage is impacting about 2300 customers in the Waverly and Montrose area, according to an Xcel Energy spokeswoman.

Officials believe a construction project accidentally caused the outage, which started at about 3:30 p.m.

Crews are expected to complete repairs tonight, but the restoration process could continue into the morning.

Technicians are going house to house to relight pilot lights.

If people need shelter from the cold, they can go to the City of Howard Lake Community Center and MAWESCO Commons, formerly known as Howard Lake Middle School.

Officials are asking people to turn on their faucets for a slow trickle of water to prevent pipes from freezing.
