Nameless veterans honored with proper military burial

One by one, in total silence, the remains of 42 men and women were carried out of the Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel and loaded onto a glass hearse.

"There is no amount of words that can convey the pride and the honor we are finally able to show these veterans who have been lost for so long," U.S. Marine Cary Carter said.

From the Spanish-American War, to World War II, to Vietnam, the veterans being honored gave their lives fighting for our freedom, only to remain nameless.

"We visit funeral homes and inventory their unclaimed remains, then we run it through a secure database in St. Louis to determine which veterans sitting on a shelf qualify for burial," Clyde Taylor of the Missing in America Project, said.

The motorcycle procession escorts the hearse to the National Memorial Cemetery, where each and every soldier finally received long, overdue military honors.
