It is said that music is truly a universal language and for two high school music instructors, that saying rings true.

Cody Smothers and Bekah Allred have been dating for six months and are music instructors for the Temple High School marching band.  Cody teaches the drumline and Bekah teaches the drum major.  “I wanted to make this day special and I was able to coordinate the proposal with the band director at Rome High School through my band director at Temple.”

Cody had been planning the surprise proposal for two months. “I had been nervous all day.  I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest.  Between being nervous about the enormous crowd, and about the hopes that it would be the most perfect moment she'd ever experience and it not get blown before it happened.”

Cody explains to FOX 5 how their love story began. Cody said that Bekah mentioned to the band director that Cody was very handsome.  “I saw her looking back at me as she was leaving one day, and I took the opportunity to follow her to her car. I saw her turning back towards the band room to wait out traffic, and we began talking. Eventually I looked her up after we left and have been inseparable ever since!”

“We've only been dating a short time. We both know how special our relationship is,” said Cody.

Cody and Bekah have set a May 19, 2018 wedding date!  Cody is going to school to become a dental hygienist and Bekah is about to graduate and get her Paralegal.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
