FOUND: Missing Duluth couple found deceased

DULUTH, Minn. (KMSP) - UPDATE: Authorities reported that Ronald and Mary Tarnowski were found deceased on Saturday afternoon. No foul play is suspected.

According to the Duluth Police Department, the couple's car was found in a remote location west of Highway 2 in the Brookston area by a U.S. Border Patrol Helicopter.

Police in Duluth, Minnesota need your help locating a missing couple. Ronald Tarnowski is 82 years old and has early stage dementia.  Mary Tarnowski is 78 and has right-sided paralysis and difficulty speaking due to a stroke many years ago.

The Duluth couple was last seen at 9 a.m. Saturday July 29. They only drive to get food at nearby restaurants, so this disappearance is very unlike them.

They may be driving a silver 2005 Chevy Tahoe four-door SUV with Minnesota license plate 852 JXG with black plastic fender flares. The Tahoe has the passenger side running board stuck in the down position.

The Tarnowskis also left home without their cell phone.

People are asked to check their properties and snowmobile trails. Anyone having information on their whereabouts are asked to contact the Duluth Police Department by calling 911 or call the tipline at is 877-888-3939.

Duluth police have shared a new image of Ronald Tarnowski. During this last known sighting he was wearing a gray shirt, tan pants and brown shoes.

Update from Cook County Sheriff

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that a missing Duluth couple may have been spotted in neighboring Lake County near the Cook County line. A vehicle matching the description of the missing couple was reported spotted earlier in the week near the Bensen Lake Trailhead Road / Superior Hiking Trail access off Lake County Hwy 7 near Crosby Manitou State Park.
