St. Paul couple refurbishes used baby cribs to give to parents in need

- A retired couple from St. Paul is making it their mission to give parents the right tools, especially if they can't afford it.

Three and a half years ago Margee Adrian volunteered at a pregnancy center in St. Paul. At one point the center stopped taking certain used baby items.

“[One of the directors] said ‘I’m going to trash it. I’m going to burn it’ and I said please don't do it I know a family right now who really needs a crib,” she said.

Since then, the retired bank teller and her husband, Denny, former Minnesota State Trooper decided to make it a calling of their own. They’ve been saving, building and refurbishing new and used baby products and personally delivering them to any parents with a need.

“We go into some apartments and we see the babies sleeping on the floor,” Denny said.

The Adrian’s say they are constantly using their own money to buy new baby products and also work with a network of volunteers who donate items. And for now, they only serve the Twin Cities metro

“When I retired, I never thought I would be giving out cribs and car seats,” Denny said.
