WAYZATA, Minn. (KMSP) - If you want to know the secret to longevity, it may be hiding out at Meridian Manor in Wayzata, Minn. The assisted living community is home to three centenarians.
Irma, Anne, and Dorothy have 301 years among them, and now they are looking for 301,000 Facebook “likes”.
Meridian Manor posted a photo of the threesome to Facebook, and the comments and likes started pouring in. Although the ladies said they don’t use Facebook, they were tickled when they read the comments.
“Nobody believes it. I have to show them my identification card,” said 100-year-old Irma Bauer. “Some say I look 75. Some say 80.”
When asked the secret to longevity Irma said, “I just sit and relax,” explaining that she really never planned to make it to 100—it just happened.
“I want to live so long so I’ll see them starting school and now they’re graduating,” she said of her great grandchildren.
The community threw a party for the group recently—with Irma and Anne both celebrating the century mark around the same time.
In the dining hall, the younger residents wanted to know the secret to their youth.
“That lady looks like she’s about 65, she makes me jealous,” said 77-year-old Marilin Lohmann. “I’m not young by any means, but I can’t imagine myself getting to be 100 and seeing what they’ve seen and doing what they’ve done.”
