GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) - Hoppy Hour has nothing to do with beer. It’s where rabbits and their owners come to mingle.
“People always say, 100 percent of the time, ‘Wow, we didn't know rabbits could do that!’ and I respond rabbits are so smart it just takes time and patience to teach them,” said Linda Judge, a rabbit owner.
The Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society puts on “hoppy hours” for rabbit owners to meet and for the rabbits to practice their agility training on an open course.
"Rabbits are very smart, very trainable, just like a cat or a dog,” said Lora Ukabgbu. "It keeps them stimulated and learning. It's about quality of life, better than going home and being in a cage."
Because just like a cat or a dog, these rabbits are pets and part of the family.
Hoppy Hour is held every other Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Animal Humane Society in golden Valley, Minn. Admission is $3 per rabbit. All rabbits must be spayed or neutered in order to attend. Check out the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society's website at www.mncompanionrabbit.org for more information.
