Minneapolis police squad car crashes into apartment building

- A Minneapolis police squad car crashed into an apartment building after attempting to avoid hitting a vehicle in North Minneapolis on Monday night.

According to Minneapolis Public Information Officer John Elder, the police officer was responding to a medical emergency near 36th and Fremont Avenue North when a car carrying 7 people entered an intersection he was heading towards. The squad car attempted to avoid contact with the vehicle before veering off and hitting an apartment building.

No one was in the apartment at the time of the crash, police said.

There are six injuries being reported including two cops and four passengers in the other vehicle (two adults, two juveniles). All are non-life threatening.

Police said it's believed alcohol was involved in the incident. No further information has been provided.
