Minneapolis police are trying to put hundreds of stolen valuables back into the hands of their rightful owners. Investigators recently executed a search warrant that led to the recovery of more than 500 stolen items.

Investigators believe many of the valuables were stolen from cars at the Hyatt hotel parking garage at 1330 Nicollet Mall.  A theft of wedding gifts from the Hyatt garage led to an extensive review of security video, an undercover surveillance operation and the search of a north Minneapolis home. Surveillance video showed the same suspect entering the parking ramp at least 12 times since June 2014.

Police recovered more than 500 items from a home on the 2400 block of Aldrich Avenue N.  Most of the valuables were stolen in the past year, but some of the items date back to 2006, including the checkbook of a Fox 9 employee. The most valuable item is a viola that could be worth up to $30,000, and the most unique item is undoubtedly a steer skull.

The stolen property is being held at the MPD Property and Evidence Warehouse at 6024 Harriet Avenue S. If you believe a recovered item belongs to you, you can call police at 612-673-5148.
