Minneapolis police chase results in crash, injuries to innocent bystander

Around 2:15 a.m. today, Minneapolis police on routine patrol in the area of 28th Street and Bloomington Avenue observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving southbound on Bloomington.

Officers gave chase and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver wouldn't stop and tried to evade cops, Minneapolis police say.

The driver ended up crashing into another vehicle near 11th Avenue and Lake Street East. The person inside the vehicle that was struck had to be cut out of the car and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car involved in the chase fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later and has been booked into Hennepin County jail for outstanding warrants and probable cause DWI, fleeing officers, and hit and run.

The suspect's identity hasn't been released as this is published.
