Charges: Minneapolis man robbed same market 5 times in 5 weeks

- A Minneapolis man is suspected robbing the same convenience store five times in five weeks, including three robberies in the same week. On the fifth alleged robbery, the police were waiting outside.

Jamye Davis, 33, was arrested Dec. 23 when officers conducting a stakeout of the 8th Street Market witnessed Davis entering the store and demanding money from the clerk at gunpoint. Davis was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, and officers recovered an airsoft pistol during the arrest.

Davis has been charged with first-degree aggravated robbery for the five incidents, which occurred on Nov. 19, Dec. 10, Dec. 18, Dec. 21 and Dec. 23. All five robberies were captured on surveillance video, and Davis allegedly stole between $100 and $300 cash in each of the first four robberies, according to the charges,

According to the criminal complaint, Davis admitted to committing all five robberies, saying he blacked out the orange tip of the airsoft pistol to make it look like a real gun. He told police he would take the bus from northeast to downtown Minneapolis to buy heroin after the robberies.
