Minnesota Medical Solutions (MinnMed) has announced it will reduce its prices on medical marijuana to make it more accessible to patients.

MinnMed is one of the two companies producing medical marijuana in Minnesota.

The company says it has reduced the prices of more than two dozen medical marijuana products, some by more than 50 percent.

Vaporizers, cannabis oils, and starter packages are among the items that have been reduced.

"My top priority as a physician is to ensure that patients have access to the medicine they need," said Dr. Kyle Kingsley, Chief Executive Officer of Minnesota Medical Solutions and Vireo Health. "It pains me any time I learn of an individual who qualifies for medical cannabis but cannot afford to purchase these medications. The impetus for today's decision to reduce prices is to improve patient access by making cannabis medicines significantly more affordable to Minnesotans struggling with life-threatening and debilitating conditions."

A newly added discount program also allows patients that are active-duty military or veterans a 15 percent discount on products.

On Dec. 1, the Minnesota Department of Health added post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a new qualifying condition for the state’s program.
