MONTICELLO, Minn. (KMSP) - The Midwest medical examiner's office confirmed the man's body found near Monticello, Minn. on Sunday is 24-year-old Tyler Berg, the St. Cloud man who had been missing since Nov. 22.
Volunteers from United Legacy, the nonprofit who coordinated the search efforts for Berg, found the body in a marsh south of Interstate 94 near Dalton Avenue.
Berg’s car was found abandoned near Otter Creek Park in Monticello. Clothes believed to belong to Berg were also found scattered at the park and on Monticello Country Club golf course.
Berg's family and friends thanked the more than 150 volunteers that aided the search for Berg in the days after his disappearance.
"Tyler was a dad, son, friend, uncle, brother, cousin, grandson, and nephew. He had a huge heart and would often go to great lengths to bring out the best in others. He will be missed by everyone he came in contact with," They wrote on their GoFundMe page.
The medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death.
The Wright County Sheriff's Office and the Midwest medical examiner's office is continuing to investigating the circumstances surrounding Berg's death, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
