Man dead, woman hurt after stabbing in Apple Valley, Minn.

- According to Apple Valley police, one man is dead and an adult female is in critical condition after both suffered stab wounds early Monday morning.

Officers were dispatched on a report of a vehicle off the roadway at Pilot Knob Road and Ellice Trail around 3:50 a.m. Upon arrival, police found two adults in the back yard of the residence at 13550 Everest Avenue.

"Officers confronted an adult male who was armed with a knife," Apple Valley police stated in a press release. "After disarming the man, officers discovered he had a self-inflicted knife wound."

The man subsequently died of his injuries at the scene after emergency personnel rendered aid.  The adult female suffered multiple knife wounds, and is currently in critical condition at Regions Hospital.

Police said they are not seeking any additional suspects and there is no threat to the community.

The Apple Valley Police Department is investigating the incident. The identities of the individuals will be released once relatives have been notified.
