Man arrested after pointing knife at bartender

One man was arrested following an assault complaint at Ultimate Sports Bar & Grill in Waite Park, Minn.

According to the Waite Park Police Department, officers were dispatched to 1101 Division St. for an assault complaint at 1:58 a.m. Friday.

Officers were told that a male suspect was not allowing the bartender to lock the door. When the bartender said he was going to call the police, the suspect, Alexander Lee Gaebel, 26, walked into the business, pulled out a knife and pointed it at the bartender.

Gaebel left the business after pulling out the knife. Officers then found him hiding near a garage. An officer drew their weapon and told Gaebel to approach the officers. He followed their commands, was handcuffed and placed in a squad car.

After being medically cleared at the St. Cloud Hospital, Gaebel was transported to the Stearns County Jail where he is being held on charges of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
