'Inappropriate communications' between Stillwater student, man met online

Stillwater school officials are working with the Washington County sheriff’s office regarding alleged inappropriate communications between a junior high student and “an adult male met through social media.”

Few details were made available on Thursday, but principal Eric VanScoy said the school resource officer and sheriff’s officials are working together as the investigation ensues. The student's age was not disclosed.

Dear SJHS Parents/Guardians,

The media is reporting on an ongoing investigation regarding inappropriate communications involving one of our students and an adult male met through social media. Data privacy laws prevent us from sharing details about this situation, but please know we are working closely with our School Resource Officer and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.

As a school community our focus is on supporting the individuals involved in this situation and maintaining a safe learning environment for all of our students.
