Hopkins police ID threatening 'Kroacky Klown' as 15-year-old girl

Hopkins police are pursuing charges against a 15-year-old girl who posed as "Kroacky Klown" on Facebook and made threats to "kill" in Hopkins and several other cities.

The Bloomington, Minnesota teenager had used her younger sister’s cell phone to create a fictitious Facebook account for Kroacky Klown, according to Hopkins police. She told police she had only intended to scare her boyfriend, but the situation got out of control and went “viral.”

Hopkins police say they are pursuing charges against the teen for her threats.

“People need to take some time and remind their children about the consequences of inappropriate behavior on social media, which may become criminal in nature,” Hopkins police said in a statement.

This is not the first report of a creepy or threatening clown in the Twin Cities. Authorities have received a number of reports of people receiving messages from clowns on social media and are warning the public about false profiles and threats.
