Hit-and-run on Central Avenue leaves pedestrian in critical condition

A pedestrian is in critical condition following an overnight hit-and-run on Central Avenue in northeast Minneapolis. Police said the crash happened at about 1:25 a.m. Monday as the man crossed the intersection of Central and 5th Street SE.

Ray J's bartender Thomas Nguyen said customers ran inside and told him someone had been hit by a car, so he called police and later took a picture of the rain-soaked scene.

None of the witnesses caught a glimpse of the vehicle involved in the incident so police are working without a description, but luckily, witnesses were able flag down help for the man immediately. He is expected to survive.
