Hibbing man arrested for DWI after ATV crash

A Hibbing man was arrested on Saturday after he crashed an ATV while intoxicated.

Around 2:45 in the afternoon the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about an ATV crash on the Chisholm ATV trail off of Highway 5 in Hibbing, Minnesota, according to an incident report.

The ATV had rolled over, trapping 60-year-old Mark Lantz underneath. Before police arrived, someone had come across the crash and helped lift the vehicle off of Lantz.

According to police, Lantz refused medical treatment, but was arrested for 3rd degree DWI.

He was brought to a nearby hospital for a head injury, and then booked into the Hibbing Jail.

Those arrested for 3rd degree DWIs in Minnesota face a year in jail, a fine, temporary revocation of driver's license and whiskey plates on all vehicles.
