(KMSP) - The hedge fund accusing a Minnesota company of manufacturing implantable heart devices vulnerable to cyber attacks is doubling down on its accusations. The fund, called Muddy Waters, released a series of videos claiming to show how the St. Jude Medical devices are vulnerable.
In September, St. Jude Medical, based in St. Paul, sued the hedge fund; the device maker claims the allegations, which sent its stock falling, were publicized to help the hedge fund make money off short selling St. Jude stock.
In a response to the lawsuit, Muddy Waters posted videos claiming to support their original report.
In a statement, St. Jude calls the videos “unverified,” and says the “behavior continues to circumvent all forms of responsible disclosure related to cyber security and patient safety.” The statement also says the company is working to “understand and asses any claims and identify any potential vulnerabilities in our devices.”
