Hazmat response shuts down 6th Street SE in Minneapolis

A medical call turned into a hazmat situation Friday morning on the 500 block of 6th Street SE. At 6 p.m., police confirmed the materials found inside of the building weren't hazardous, but the situation shut down several streets in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood for most of the day.

Police confirmed one person was taken to the hospital and they were being questioned by investigators.

Tenants said the building holds 20 people and is fully occupied. It's unknown at this time whether or not the initial medical call is related to the hazmat response.
