Gophers basketball adds exhibition game for Puerto Rico hurricane relief

The Minnesota men's basketball team is adding an exhibition game to its schedule to raise money for Puerto Rico hurricane relief.

On Sunday, November 5, the Gophers will play University of Wisconsin-Green Bay at noon at Maturi Pavilion.

All the game proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to help the organization's efforts in Puerto Rico.

“In my four years here we have played in Puerto Rico twice and have had an unbelievable experience both times,” said head coach Richard Pitino. “Hopefully our fans’ generosity and caring spirit will show on November 5. I am really looking forward to this day - we need to pack the Pav.”

Typically, the NCAA only allows two exhibition games a year, but this year the NCAA is allowing Division I schools to hold a third exhibition game to raise money for those impacted by the recent hurricanes.

This game is not included in season ticket or student season ticket packages.

Student season ticket holders and Gopher Score members will be able to buy tickets in a pre-sale on Thursday October 26 at 9:00 a.m. Tickets will open up to the rest of the public on Tuesday, October 31 at 9:00 a.m.

Tickets cost $10.
