Final suspect arrested in fatal Andover, Minn. hit-and-run

Authorities say they have arrested the final suspect and suspect vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Andover, Minnesota, Friday evening.

Loren Gafner, 19, was arrested in Isanti County on Monday, according to the Anoka County sheriff’s office. Following the hit-and-run, Gafner fled the area and sought refuge at a house in Isanti County. When the homeowner realized he was a wanted fugitive, they called police and Gafner fled. A trooper responding to the call recognized him and he was taken into custody a short time later.

Gafner is one of three suspects allegedly responsible for hitting and killing Tristan Gene Robinson, 17, of Nowthen. The suspect vehicle, a 2005 Mercury Montego, has also been recovered.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of a teenager down in the street in the 700 block of 141st Lane in Andover.

Friends told police Robinson was hanging out with them when he went outside. The friends then heard a "dull collision sound followed by screeching tires." When they went outside, they found their friend suffering from multiple injuries. They did not see a vehicle.

He died at the scene. Investigators say his injuries are consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Police are treating the case as a second-degree murder. A juvenile who police are not identifying at this time and Daveion Maddox, 17, were arrested on Sunday.

More details are expected to be released on Monday.
