Two people are in the hospital after a two car crash ended in a fiery blaze, according to Maple Grove Police.

Maple Grove Police say the crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on westbound I-94 near Hemlock Lane North. Witnesses told investigators a red Pontiac was in the far left lane, when a black SUV in the center lane got cut off by a different car. The SUV swerved to the left, nearly hitting the Pontiac in the left lane, which caused the Pontiac to swerve as well.

The Pontiac then hit construction barrels, flipped and caught fire. Firefighters had to put out the flames when they arrived at the scene.

Both teens inside the Pontiac had to be pulled from the vehicle. Emergency crews took them to a hospital in Robbinsdale. The driver, 18-year-old Abraham Ingli of Knapp, Wisconsin, was seriously injured and the passenger, 16-year-old Issac Ingli of Knapp, Wisconsin, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash caused traffic to go down to one lane for a short time.

Minnesota State Patrol is conducting the investigation.
