Girl who lost family in arson has one Christmas wish and needs the public's help

A 5-year-old from New York who lost her family in a fire that was intentionally set has one wish for the holidays this year – she wants Christmas cards from around the world.

According to KOCO 5, Safyre Terry’s father and three younger siblings died in a fire caused by arson.

The young girl was found in the debris next to her father. He used his body to shield her from the flames.

However, Safyre suffered severe burns, and in the months following the fire she lost her right and hand and left foot.

Safyre lives with her aunt, Liz Dodler. She bought her a tree to hang holiday cards on, and when the little girl saw the tree, KOCO 5 reports that she couldn’t wait to fill it up.

Dodler posted a photo of Safyre standing next to the tree on Facebook in hopes of getting people to participate and send cards.
