Blaine Police Officer Steve Nanney and his wife Susie were killed while riding a motorcycle in Elk River after a collision with a pickup truck on June 15. While they didn’t have any children, they left their dog Ranger behind.

Just eight days after their crash, a Blaine Community Service Officer, Jennah, adopted the Nanney’s dog.

It was a natural fit as Jennah had routinely watched Ranger for the Nanney’s, Blaine PD said on Twitter.
