EDEN VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) - In the hallways of Eden Valley-Watkins High School, the rules apply to everyone, except for the robots. At under 20 bounds and a couple feet across, the Mystery Machine was specifically designed for the FRC Robotics Competition, and Eden Valley's small team of eight was not only able to compete, but win. They beat the competition at this month’s regional in Duluth, earning a trip to the World Championships.
Of the 208 robotics teams in Minnesota, they’re one of about 20 teams to qualify for the world championships against about 600 other teams. They will be held from April 27 to April 30 in St. Louis.
The squad already raised the $5,000 necessary just to enter the contest, but they’re hoping to gather $3,000 to $4,000 to help pay for their travel expenses. To donate, call the school at 320-453-2900.
