Eagan fire so hot it melts fire truck, breaks neighbor's windows

A house in Eagan, Minn. was destroyed by a fire Thursday night that burned so hot it melted part of a fire truck and cracked the neighbor's windows. The fire was reported at 8:09 p.m. at 1571 Skyline Trail.

A father and his two children were inside the home when he smelled smoke, called 911 and got everyone out safely. There were no injuries from the fire, but the home is considered a total loss.

"It was so hot that the initial fire truck had some melting," Fire Chief Mike Scott said. "Some of the trim on the truck was melting. It was extremely hot."

Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire, but they believe it started in the garage.
