Driver killed in head-on crash with semi in western Wisconsin

BARRON, Wis. (KMSP) - A man was killed in a head-on crash with a semi-truck in northwestern Wisconsin early Tuesday morning. 

The accident occurred at 4:24 a.m. on Highway 8 west of 12th Street in Barron. According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, a van traveling west on Highway 8 crossed the center line and struck an oncoming semi head-on. 

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released. 

Highway 8 was closed for more than five hours following the crash. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are continuing to investigate.
