Dog shot, killed in yard in front of owners in Fridley, Minn.

A dog was shot and killed in the front yard of a home in Fridley, Minnesota by a man driving through the neighborhood Friday afternoon.

According to the Fridley Police Department, the dog, a one-year-old male pitbull, was in the yard of trailer home on the 1000 block of North Circle. The owners of the dog were at the home, and police believe they exchanged words with the driver and passengers in the car before the shooting occurred.

Police interviewed several people who were in the neighborhood and witnessed the shooting. No one reported having any issues with the dog in the past.

Police do not believe the person who killed the dog lived in the neighborhood, but think he may know someone who does. The suspect fled the scene in a gold or tan Lincoln Navigator.
