1 killed in north Minneapolis shooting Sunday evening

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of shots fired just before 7 p.m. Sunday evening. 

They found a man shot multiple times and not breathing near the intersection of N. Morgan Avenue and N. 16th Avenue at North Commons Park. Police tried CPR on the victim and rushed him to the hospital where he died. 

Police said a kickball league was going on at the park at the time of the shooting and many kids and parents were present at the time. 

Minneapolis Police Department's John Elder said, "There was a large event going on, a kickball tournament going on at North Commons Park. There is no indication this incident is tied in to this event. There are a lot of people we are speaking to and we are trying to gather as much information as possible."

They have not yet released the victim's name and no arrests have been made. Homicide detectives and officers canvassed the area and interviewed numerous people after the incident.
