Dayton to tour Brainerd area storm damage

On Friday, Gov. Mark Dayton and U.S. Congressman Rick Nolan will visit the Brainerd Lakes Area to tour the damage caused by Sunday’s storm. Representatives from Public Safety, the Department of Natural Resources, and local officials will join them as well.

The tour will start with a meeting with effected resort owners. That will be followed by a helicopter tour of the area, a meeting with emergency managers and local officials before wrapping up by meeting with responders and volunteers.

Crews and volunteers have been cleaning the area all week, though some parts remain without power. Even The Red Cross and Salvation Army have set up an emergency relief station in a Nisswa Church to help.

Progress is being made with parts of Madden’s Resort, scheduled to be closed for a couple weeks, already reopened.
