Teen dead, two injured in crash with semi at Blaine intersection

Mohamed Amin, 19, was killed in a crash with a semi in Blaine, Minnesota Wednesday evening. 

A 19-year-old driver died and two other teenagers were critically injured in a crash with a semi Wednesday evening at an intersection in Blaine, Minnesota. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office identified the driver killed in the crash as Mohamed Amin.

At 7:54 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a call of crash between a vehicle and semi tractor trailer at the intersection of 85th Avenue NW and University Ave NE in Blaine. According to police, the car was headed eastbound on 85th and the semi was headed southbound on University when the crash occurred.

Amin was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers -- a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old -- were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition.

The 41-year-old semi truck driver from St. Paul stayed at the scene. He is cooperating with police. The crash is still under investigation.
