Corrections officers injured in assault at Faribault prison

Two corrections officers were injured in an assault at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault.

According to officials, the two officers were assaulted around 6 p.m. Sunday. They were sent to the hospital and later released.

The offender responsible was "immediately put in restrictive housing."

The facility was placed under lockdown following the incident.

Sunday's assault comes just weeks after five staff members were injured during two incidents at the corrections facility in Oak Park Heights, Minn. Additionally, last month, Officer Joseph Parise died from a medical emergency after he responded to help another officer who was assaulted by an inmate at the prison.

Back in July, Corrections Officer Joseph Gomm was fatally attacked by an inmate at the facility in Stillwater, Minn.
