PLYMOUTH, Minn. (KMSP) - A Plymouth man has been charged for allegedly stabbing and killing his brother over unpaid rent money, according to a criminal complaint released Thursday.
Police showed up at the scene Tuesday to find 27-year-old Jamison Ittel dead on the steps of his Annapolis Lane apartment complex--barefoot, shirtless and covered in a blanket--after being stabbed in the heart.
The victim's mother had called 911 to report the crime, saying that her son had stabbed his brother. Garrett Ittel, 25, admitted to police on that same call he had been drinking when an argument over money escalated. Their mother suggested over the phone to both men that they stay in separate places for the time being, though neither heeded her advice.
Garrett Ittel told police in a 911 call that he took a knife out of a dresser and stabbed his brother twice in the kitchen. Jamison Ittel, bleeding profusely from his wounds, grabbed a blanket and sat on the front steps of the building at 5300 Annapolis Lane, officials said. He died before police arrived.
According to the complaint Garrett Ittel attempted to clean up the kitchen before officers arrived, though they were able to locate the knife used in the incident.
He is currently in custody and will make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.
