Charges: Metro Transit driver solicited pregnant teen for sex

Mahmud Aden, 32, is facing felony charges for soliciting a pregnant teen on his bus for sex.

A Metro Transit bus driver is facing felony charges after surveillance video showed him refusing to let a pregnant 16-year-old girl off his bus and soliciting her for sex.

The victim told police she was riding the #7 bus southbound in Minneapolis Tuesday night around 10:15 p.m. She pulled the string to indicate she wanted to get off at the next stop, but the driver, 32-year-old Mahmud Aden, did not stop the bus, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim said the Aden continued his route, stopping the bus at his layover at 34th Ave. and Highway 62, where he asked her to perform sexual acts in exchange for $100 and a cell phone.

The victim refused several times before Aden gave up and drove her to her stop, where she was picked up around 10:36 p.m.

Metro Transit Police confirmed the victim’s report with surveillance video pulled from the bus.

The Metro Transit Police Department issued a statement regarding the incident, condemning the behavior of the Metro Transit employee and saying they took immediate action to address the complaint.

Metro Transit sets a high standard for behavior from its employees. The behavior described is obviously not what we expect, nor are accustomed to, from Metro Transit operators. When we learned of this incident, we took immediate action to address the issue.

Aden is being charged with one count of soliciting a teen for prostitution. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum $50,000 fine.
