MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A 23-year-old Maple Grove man has been charged with second degree murder in the fatal stabbing that happened Thursday night in Dinkytown.
Brandon Kenneth Bockoven faces up to 40 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Thursday night, officers responded to a report of a stabbing in a car at University Ave SE and 13th Ave SE in Minneapolis. Police found a man bleeding heavily from stab wounds in the front passenger seat of the car. Emergency crews took the victim to HCMC, where he later died.
Three other people were also in the car when police arrived, including Bockoven, who was in the driver's seat.
When police asked where the suspect had gone, Bockoven said he had stabbed the victim and turned over a blue folding knife. Bockoven was taken into custody.
The two witnesses who were in the backseat of the car told police Bockoven and the victim were arguing about money because the victim allegedly owed Bockoven for car parts.
Witnesses told police they saw Bockoven stab the victim twice. Bockoven later also told police he stabbed the victim twice.
