Charges: 19-year-old with gun fled police after Minneapolis shooting

Qumari Spencer, 19, has been charged with possessing a firearm following a shooting near Hennepin Avenue and 4th Street S in downtown Minneapolis early Monday morning.

A 19-year-old man has been charged in relation to one of the two shootings in downtown Minneapolis early Monday morning in that left six people injured.

Minneapolis police officers heard shots being fired in the area of Hennepin Avenue and 4th Street S around 1:29 a.m. Officers arrested Qumari Spencer after a short chase and recovered a handgun.

Officers located three men and one boy in the area with gunshot wounds. They were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Qumari is facing a felony charge for possessing a firearm. 

A second shooting took place in downtown Minneapolis around the same time Monday morning. The shooting occurred at 1:13 p.m. outside the Minneapolis Police Department’s First Precinct on 4th Street N. Two people were injured.
