General Mills to cut as many as 600 jobs globally

General Mills announced Monday it would cut as many 600 jobs globally and eliminate its international chief operating officer as part of its new global organizational structure.

As part of its restructuring, the Golden Valley, Minnesota-based company will be split into four business groups – North American retail, Europe & Australia, Asia & Latin America and Convenience Stores and Foodservice, according to a news release. All four groups will report to the company’s current President and Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Harmening, who will now also oversee global operations.

The company says the new structure is expected to impact approximately 400 to 600 positions worldwide.

General Mills, Inc. had about 39,000 employees as of May, the Associated Press reported.
