BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) - Best Buy is warning that some of its customers’ payment information may have been breached in a cyberattack last fall.
Best Buy said they were recently notified of the cyberattack against 7.ai, the third-party operator of its online chat services. Delta and Sears also use the chat-service provider and have said their customers’ information may have been exposed as well.
The attack is believed to have occurred between Sept. 26 and Oct. 12, 2017. Best Buy said it is working to determine the extent of the data breach, but believes only a “small fraction” of their overall online customer population may have been affected.
Best Buy said it will contact any affected customers directly.
