Amazon to open tech center in downtown Minneapolis

Amazon is still hiring employees for its new fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minn. and just announced plans Wednesday for a technology development center to bring 100 more jobs to downtown Minneapolis.

The Seattle-based company didn't specify when the Minneapolis office would be complete or where exactly it's going. The job openings are primarily for software development engineers and managers, but they'll also hire an athletic trainer, and employees in IT, HR, health and finance.

"The Minneapolis office will include multiple roles like software development engineers and managers who will be tasked with developing and innovating technology solutions that enhance Amazon's operations," the company's announcement said.

Target is also working to hire about 500 technology workers for its Minneapolis office.
