Target Canada has received court approval to start liquidating its stock. The Minneapolis-based retailer announced last month it would close all 133 of its Canadian stores and lay off more than 17,000 people.
Many stores have already stopped carrying perishable items, like milk, eggs and frozen foods. Store shelving, fixtures and equipment will also be sold.
Target started operations in Canada two-years ago, but has been unable to turn a profit.
