Body of snowmobiler found in Winsted Lake

The body of a snowmobiler who went underwater on Winsted Lake in central Minnesota was discovered by authorities this week.

The McLeod County Sheriff's Office says emergency responders found the body of 52-year-old Lawrence Stifter of Winsted in Winsted Lake on Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from McLeod County, the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a snowmobile possibly going into Winsted Lake Wednesday evening.

Stifter was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and his cause of death is still under investigation.
