Body of missing Vadnais Heights woman could be on farm in N.D., S.D.

Michelle Newell, 45, of Vadnais Heights was last seen on Aug. 30. Authorities believe her body is in a barn or farm building covered with hay in North or South Dakota. 

The Ramsey County sheriff’s office is still asking for the public’s help in locating the body of a missing woman from Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.

Timothy Barr, 51, of St. Paul is charged with the murder of Michelle Newell, 45. He told a police informant he accidentally ran over Newell with his vehicle, killing her. He said he later left her body covered with hay inside an abandoned barn or farm building in eastern North or eastern South Dakota.  

Authorities believe Barr traveled through eastern North and South Dakota before returning to the Twin Cities. 

Newell was last seen on Aug. 30 in Cass County, North Dakota. Cass County and Ramsey County sheriff’s offices are asking anyone who lives in the areas east of Jamestown, North Dakota and Aberdeen South Dakota to check out their buildings and barns for anything suspicious.

New security photos show Newell was in the company of Barr at a restaurant in Alexandria, Minnesota at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 29.
