A bicyclist is in critical condition from a crash between a car and a bicycle in downtown Minneapolis, according to Minneapolis Police Public Information Officer John Elder.

Elder says around 2:55 p.m. Police responded to a report of a bicycle and a car crash at N 1st St and Hennepin Ave.

When officers arrived, they found the cyclist, an adult man, in the intersection in critical condition. He was taken to HCMC.

From preliminary reports, witnesses told police the driver of the car had the green light and was heading westbound on N 1st St. The bicycle was going northbound on Hennepin and appeared to have run through the red light.

There was damage to the car, windshield and bike. Driver of the car was not hurt, but shaken.
