Benefit helps raise money, groceries for single mother with cancer

The Fox 9 morning crew spent Saturday morning at a Lakeville Cub Foods for a good cause. Leah Beno, Dawn Stevens and Kelly O’Connell helped raise money for Monica Theis, a single mother of two.

Theis was recently diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time, this time stage four breast cancer. In its advanced stage, the cancer has spread to her bones and lungs.

Organizers of the benefit told Fox 9 they want to do everything they can to relieve the financial burden on Theis and her family.

“We are here to support Monica and her two kids so they can…go make some memories, and have a great Easter,” said Dawn Sauber, an organizer. ‘And just know that they’re supported by strangers and friends and the community of Lakeville.”

The event helped raise a total of $10,717 for the family.
