Attempted phone snatching on Univ. of Minnesota campus

The University of Minnesota has issued a crime alert after a student was targeted by a phone thief in the heart of campus.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a U of M student was walking across Lilly Plaza with a friend when someone ran into her from behind and attempted to take her phone from her hand. The victim and the suspect fell to the ground and struggled for the phone. The suspect eventually got up and fled east toward Church Street. The victim was not injured and nothing was stolen.

The victim said the suspect's hoodie concealed his identity and she was unable to confirm additional information.
