For the second time in 3 days, a Minnesota state trooper has rescued an injured bald eagle. Tuesday morning, a state trooper and DNR officer rescued an injured eagle from a country road in Shieldsville, Minn., about 11 miles northwest of Faribault, Minn.

The eagle was brought to the Faribault Veterinary Clinic, where it was placed in a kennel to rest until a crew from the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center could pick it up. The eagle has been transferred to the Raptor Center for a diagnosis and treatment.

“We didn't get your names, but a big thank you to the officers who rescued this beautiful creature!” the clinic wrote on Facebook.

"The bird was hit by a car and had made its way to the shoulder by the time the trooper arrived," the Minnesota State Patrol said in a press release. "The trooper used his coat to cover and pick up the injured eagle. He placed it in the back seat of his squad and transported it to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center."
