The Anoka County sheriff’s office has released security camera photos of a man who used pepper spray on an ATM customer to steal his cash. The robbery was reported at 4:10 p.m. at the US Bank at 3445 Bunker Lake Blvd NW in Andover, Minn.

A 61-year-old man told police he was using the ATM inside the vestibule of the bank when a man sprayed him in the face with a chemical irritant and demanded his money.  The victim fought back but was sprayed heavily in the face and robbed of his cash.

Moments before the robbery, witnesses saw a man resembling the suspect pictured in the surveillance photos either riding a bicycle or skateboard westbound through the adjacent strip mall.

“I am confident that this robbery suspect will be caught and that justice will be served,” Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart said. “His actions can serve as a reminder to us all to remain aware of our surroundings and to have a plan for even the most unusual circumstances.”

Anyone with information or who thinks they know the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at 763-427-1212 and ask for the on-call CID Detective.
