St. Paul police have arrested the alleged shooter who killed Emmett Lee Shaw, 24, in a drive-by shooting on the Earl Street Bridge on Oct. 15. It was one of three murders that occurred over a five day period in St. Paul.

A witness told police he, Shaw and several others were walking on the Earl Street Bridge around 7 p.m. when a one of three passengers in a black car began shooting at them. Upon arrival, officers found Shaw with a gunshot wound to his back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Dearies Calvin Collins, 21, on Thursday after two other suspects identified him as the shooter.

Collins is being charged with one count of second degree murder, four counts of drive-by shooting and four counts of second degree assault.

Police also arrested Dametrius Moore, 23, and Tyree Bercham, 21, for their involvement in the shooting. Moore is being charged with second degree murder, four counts of drive-by shooting and four counts of second degree assault. Bercham, whose last name is spelled Beecham on some records, has not yet been charged for his involvement in the incident.

Both Bercham and Moore claimed they did not know Collins was going to shoot at the group on the bridge.

According to the criminal complaint, Shaw was reportedly a high-ranking member of the Eastside Boys Gang, along with several other people on the bridge. Both Bercham and Moore denied any gang rivalry issues with the Eastside Boys.
